The Grey Sand Team
Rusty Treviño: Director/Screenwriter
Rusty Treviño was born and raised in the eastern suburbs of San Diego. He was a quiet suburbanite brought up on Hollywood blockbuster films and lots of popcorn. He is an accomplished artist who has been professionally involved in theatre, video games, and short films. His cerebral style of filmmaking is inspired by Oliver Stone’s Platoon while the cinematic half of story and music are inspired by Martin Scorsese’s many works.
“The High Tower” is his directing debut and his first produced screenplay. This film was a script and a story born out of the interest of how cultures and people clash yet are ultimately extremely similar behind the minor differences. It went through several major rewrites and changes to eventually become a story of sadness and possible redemption.
Seher Basak: Producer
Seher became interested in making movies from working in the video game industry, where she first saw the potential for expanding narrative realms through the use of different media types through the Wachowskis’ work on the Matrix universe. She has been most inspired by Robert Rodriguez and Kevin Smith in the world of film and in gaming by Ragnar Tornquist, Warren Spector and Clint Hocking.
“The High Tower” is Seher’s first film. She is also currently producing the game “Physitive” for the PC and the MMA Documentary“Fight Life”.
